The Product

Meet Powerwall 3.

A smarter way to store energy and keep your home running. Solar inverter and home battery in one integrated unit — engineered by Tesla, sized and installed for your home by Volt Home.

Automatic backup

Detects an outage and switches over on its own — no generator to start, no fuel to store.

Whole-home protection

11.5 kW of continuous power and 185 LRA motor start — enough to run the systems most homes depend on.

Solar integration

Accepts up to 20 kW of solar with the inverter built in — fewer boxes on the wall, one system to service.

Smart energy management

See production, storage and use in the Tesla app, and set how your system behaves day to day.

Expandable capacity

Start with one. Add units later as your home, your EV or your family's needs grow.

Built for the outdoors

Wall-mounted, weather-rated and quiet — designed to live outside a Florida or California home year-round.

Backup Power

When the grid goes down, your home stays on.

Powerwall 3 detects an outage and can power your home automatically — the lights stay on, the fridge keeps running, and the storm outside stays outside.

Automatic

No switch to flip and nothing to start. Backup begins on its own.

Storm ready

Built for hurricane season in Florida and grid events in California.

Recharges

Paired with solar, Powerwall refills during the day — outage after outage.

How It Works

Store energy.
Use it when you need it.

Your system produces energy, keeps what you don't use, and gives it back when the sun is down or the grid is out.

Your homeUses energy

Daytime — your solar produces more than the house needs. The extra energy charges Powerwall instead of leaving your property.

Solar + Powerwall

Your solar energy,
working harder.

Solar alone stops working the moment the sun sets. With Powerwall 3, the energy your panels make during the day is stored on-site — so it powers your evening, not someone else's.

Because the solar inverter is built into Powerwall 3, the system is simpler: fewer components, one integrated design, one team to call.

Whole-Home Backup

Backup power for the way your home actually lives.

Not just a lamp and a phone charger. Powerwall 3 is sized to carry the things that make a house liveable when the power is out.

Lights
Wi-Fi & internet
Security & cameras

Which circuits stay on — and for how long — depends on how much energy your home uses and how many Powerwalls you install. Your Volt Home designer maps this out with you before anything is ordered.

FAQs

Powerwall 3, answered.

Powerwall 3 is Tesla's home battery — a wall-mounted unit that stores electricity so your home can use it later. It stores 13.5 kWh of energy and includes a solar inverter built in, so a single unit can both convert solar energy and store it. It can be installed with new solar, added to an existing system, or installed on its own for backup power.

13.5 kWh per unit, with up to 11.5 kW of continuous power output. As a rough guide, that's enough to cover the essentials of a typical home overnight — how long it lasts depends on what you're running. Homes with higher demand can install multiple units.

Often, yes. A single Powerwall 3 delivers 11.5 kW of continuous power and can start motor loads rated up to 185 LRA, which covers the air conditioning in most homes. Whether one unit covers everything you want backed up depends on your home's size and usage — larger or all-electric homes may need two or more. Volt Home sizes this during your consultation.

Powerwall detects the outage and switches your home over to stored energy automatically — there's nothing to start or switch by hand. When the grid comes back, it switches back on its own. Paired with solar, Powerwall recharges during the day, so it can keep going through multi-day outages.

Yes — and it's designed for it. Powerwall 3 accepts up to 20 kW of solar input with the inverter integrated into the unit, which simplifies the system. Energy your panels produce and your home doesn't use charges the battery instead of being exported, so you can use it after sunset.

It depends on how much energy you use, which circuits you want backed up, and how long you want to run without the grid. Many homes start with one; systems can scale to four Powerwall 3 units per home. We'll look at your utility bill and your priorities and recommend a size — no guesswork.

It's mounted to an exterior or garage wall by a certified crew and wired into your electrical service, typically with a Tesla Backup Switch or Gateway so the home can island itself during an outage. Volt Home handles the design, permitting, installation, utility interconnection and commissioning.

The on-site work is usually completed in one day for a straightforward battery installation, or one to two days when it's paired with a new solar system. The overall timeline depends on permitting and utility approval in your city, and your project coordinator keeps you updated at each step.

Yes. We work with several financing partners and offer flexible options, including $0-down plans with approved credit. Your specialist will walk through what's available for your home and market, including any state or utility programs you may qualify for.

Powerwall 3 carries a 10-year Tesla product warranty. Volt Home's workmanship coverage applies to the installation itself, and you can reach our team directly for service — you're not left between manufacturer and installer.

Power your home with confidence.
